ADHD is characterized by prominent symptoms of inattention or impulsivity.

 

Symptoms of inattention include an inability to pay attention to details; careless mistakes; difficulty organizing and completing tasks; losing things; and distractibility.  Symptoms of hyperactivity or impulsivity include an inability to sit still; discomfort or restlessness in class or meetings; talking excessively; and interrupting others.

Treatment involves a thorough evaluation and a comprehensive approach that includes behavioral work and, where appropriate, medication trial.
